Paleontology Museum

Open: Monday through Sunday from 09:00 to 20:00 hours.

This small and interesting museum has an exposition of over 2, 500 samples of fossils of animals and plants picked in the region. Book in advance so you can enjoy an arranged guided tour around the fossils banks, it will be a great visit to the Cretaceous period.

La Rosetilla Dam

You start in Ciudad Delicias to arrive at the Conchos River and the Rosetilla Dam. Throughout the highway you’ll find restaurants where the main specialty is the fried fish and the caldo de oso.

Meoqui

This town, located 76 km from the state capital, on the 45 highway, was founded before 1712 on the left limits of the San Pedro river. In the beginning it was a Franciscan mission to evangelize the conchos Indians. In 1772 the presidium called San Pablo military spot was settled there, keeping the name until December 1966 when Benito Juarez gave it the name of Villa de Meoqui honoring Pedro Meoqui from Guanajuato, dead in august 1865 when was fighting the French people in Hidalgo del Parral.

Nowadays this is a recreational place with excellent restaurants and spots where regional products are sold. In Meoqui deserve a special mention the temple of San Pedro, built between 1962 and 1969, as well as the Valenzuela house where the then president of Mexico Benito Juarez spent the night during its pilgrimage on the northern side of the country.

Rosales

8 km from Delicias, the town of Rosales is linked to the history of Chihuahua. The first community called Santa Cruz was settled in 1620 but was destroyed soon after during the indigenous rebellions.

The actual name of the town corresponds to the independence hero Victor Rosales. The town was attacked by the north American invaders in 1948, and later, hosted Benito Juarez during the French invasion. Among the tourist attractions are the rests of an inclination from the XVIII century and the old windmill. Near Rosales is the Francisco I. Madero dam, known as Las Virgenes, where you can have a boat tour and fish mojarra and black bass.

Julimes

Julimes is a small town built in 1691 by the Franciscan missioners. In the area are the Los Ojos and El Tanque thermal water springs, ideal to take a therapeutic bath and spend a day in the country.

Saucillo

Located 40 km from Julimes. In Saucillo is the Las Palmas thermal waters, a huge extension with trees that has a small hotel and all you need to enjoy the water, have a day in the country and fish black bass.

Camargo

Located 69 km south Delicias. Camargo is called the Perla de Conchos because it was built on the Conchos River shore. The area is also fed by the Florido and San Gregorio rivers, which give it its distinctive attitude for agriculture-farming activities, the main economic strength in the area. Camargo is known for being the homeland of two big plastic artists such as David Alfaro Siqueiros and Sebastian.

Among the places of interest to visit in Camargo are the Temple of Santa Rosalia, the Clock Tower and the mesteñas and San Antonio de la Ramada haciendas.

Ojo Caliente Springs

Located 9 km from the city are these thermal waters that receive healing properties. These springs have a hotel, restaurant and an extensive amount of trees where you can camp. This park is really visited by Mennonites that appreciated the high sulphur content in the place.

San Francisco de Conchos

20 kms west Camargo is the municipality of San Francisco de Conchos, where the old missional church dedicated to San Francisco is located. The dams of La Boquilla, Lago Colina and Los Filtros thermal waters are places of unmatched beauty in the area, especially during the hot days of summer when you can practice water sports.

Los Filtros

5 km north San Francisco de Conchos. The place is formed by 14 thermal waters that emerge from a rock group surrounded by walnut trees. The water joins the Colino Lake and La Boquilla dam. In the area one can find cabins and restaurants with exquisite typical cuisine.

La Boquilla Dam

9 km east San Francisco de Conchos, the La Boquilla Dam is an artificial course of water located near the town of the same name. The dam was built in 1920 to produce electric energy. The inner side of the dam is known as Toronto Lake, where water sports are usually practiced.

Colina Lake

9 km from San Francisco de Conchos. The Colina Lake is a mirror of artificial water, settled amidst a desert like setting, which gives it its very singular attractive. Its deep waters give us the chance of practicing water sports like ski, boat tours and fishing.
